A zero edge is not a safety feature.

This site spends most of its words on which games take the least from you. That difference is real, and it is also the least important thing about whether gambling is good for you.

What the math does and does not say

A 0% house edge means the expected value of a bet equals its stake. It says nothing about the distribution around that expectation, and the distribution is what people actually experience. Over a few hundred bets, variance is many times larger than the edge — which means a zero-edge game can, and regularly will, take a full bankroll in a single session.

There is a second, less obvious risk. Removing the edge removes the one honest brake on turnover: the knowledge that playing longer costs more. A break-even game invites longer sessions, and longer sessions are where problems start regardless of the paytable.

Gambler’s ruin is a theorem, not a warning. A fair random walk against an opponent with effectively unlimited funds reaches zero with probability approaching 1 as the number of bets grows. Zero edge does not change that conclusion. Only a stopping rule does.

Practical limits that work

  • Set deposit limits in the account settings, not in your head. A limit you have to contact support to raise is worth ten times a limit you can talk yourself out of.
  • Decide the loss number before you open the client. Any figure chosen during a losing run is chosen by the losing run.
  • Use the session timer. Time distortion is the most reliably documented effect of these interfaces, and it is the easiest one to counter.
  • Never deposit to recover a loss. This single rule prevents more damage than every other item on this list combined.
  • Keep gambling money separate from money with a job. Rent, bills, savings and debt repayment are not bankroll.

Signs worth taking seriously

Chasing losses. Gambling longer or larger than you intended, repeatedly. Hiding it from people close to you. Borrowing to fund it. Restlessness or irritability when you try to stop. Gambling to escape rather than for entertainment. Any one of these on its own is a reason to stop and talk to someone — they do not have to appear together to matter.

Where to get help

Self-exclusion works. Most operators, including crypto casinos, provide cooling-off periods and permanent self-exclusion in account settings. Using it is not a failure — it is the one tool with a guaranteed expected value.

Age and eligibility

Online gambling is restricted to adults — 18 or over, or 21 in some jurisdictions — and is prohibited outright in others. It is your responsibility to know the law where you live. This site is intended only for readers of legal age in a jurisdiction where online gambling is permitted, and nothing on it is legal, financial or tax advice.
